Album reviews Music

Stereolab

Rating: NNN

Other than a touch of fuzz guitar and some vaguely Mandingoesque percussive dabbling, there’s nothing radically new happening on Stereolab’s latest seven-track EP, just more gently quirky lounge chansons orchestrated for summer picnics and mountain motoring. With much of the obscure music they cop now commonly available, Stereolab are falling dangerously behind the refinements in their audience’s taste for easy exotica. It’s past time Tim Gane found some new records.
