Terroir brings the best of hospitality to Toronto

On Monday May 11, the Terroir Hospitality Symposium will explore the theme of Pioneering Change, how influencers in the industry impact the zeitgeist, by facilitating the exchange of ideas with culinary and hospitality leaders.

In its ninth year, Terroir is an amalgam of world renowned chefs, wine experts, writers, photographers and restaurateurs who meet and talk about food issues that affect us globally.

Speaker highlights include Francis Lam, James Beard and IACP award nominated food writer and editor for Clarkson Potter as well as Helen Hollyman, editor-in-chief of Munchies, Vice’s food website.

Did I mention there would also be lots of food and wine? An all-day event wouldn’t be complete without it.

Greet the morning with breakfast eats from Oliver & Bonacini, and at lunch, indulge in a sumptuous feast of international street food from a roster of revered chefs: Chef Chris Hamburger (Stagger Lee’s) will be offering tender coffee braised brisket Chef Dannielle Judie (NOLA Girl Food Truck & Catering, LLC) brings some Big Easy flair with her Creole seafood Gumbo and Toronto’s own Chef Zane Caplansky, who will be offering his signature smoked meat knish pocket.

For dessert, Canada’s best pastry chefs will all be using cacao berry chocolate to create street food-inspired desserts.

Terroir’s Wine Program, curated by Good Food Revolution and Wine Country Ontario, will host a series of workshops covering everything from the science, the grapes and soil.

Then, from May 12- 13, Samuel Adams Brewery has teamed up with Terroir to host its dinner series, collaborations between famed chefs who craft inspired, themed menus.  One of the hot tickets include Ode to Beef, featuring Toronto’s Chef Jesse Vallins and Chef Richard Turner (London’s Hawksmoor) at The Saint Tavern. Carnivores will rejoice at the meat-centric menu and eating what’s being called “the world’s best steak.”
