The Eagles

The Eagles are old guys now, and they totally dress like old guys, which is pretty amusing in an “Oh my god, Dad! You’re not wearing that, are you?” kind of way. Live in Melbourne on their “farewell tour” (I never believe that farewell tour crap), the good old American roots boys are jovial and relaxed onstage, running through an entire career’s worth of good old American roots music, and it’s all just good and old and American and totally classic. (Interesting tidbit: Hotel California aside, every Eagles song I know really well I heard regularly working in strip clubs in the early 90s.) Of course, you have to love the Eagles to like this, and then it will give you a big boner. Otherwise, it’s bloody interminable – they’ve had a long career. Bonus: an interview during which band members say all kinds of nice good old American things about each other and goof around in a good old American kind of way.
