Drenched in hot organ and high energy, the Midways are just about one of Toronto’s best-kept secrets. Their unapologetically retro sound borrows heavily from R&B, surf rock, garage and punk.
While some may believe that another Nuggets-type revival isn’t completely needed, there’s no denying the fact that this quartet, led convincingly by singer Dave Pauwels, is as close to the real deal as you can get. One listen to songs like She Loves Me and E.S.P. should convince you the Midways sound like they mean it.
