Theatre Q&A

Rating: NNNNN

If you’re suffering from Canadian Idol withdrawal, don’t worry. Four of the franchise’s former finalists – including one winner – get another shot at centre-stage glory in Snow White And The Group Of Seven, the latest Ross Petty panto. Joining CI’s first winner, Ryan Malcolm, are Gary Beals, Billy Klippert and – in the title role – Elena Juatco, she of the bluesy Alanis interpretations. Cool that a non-Caucasian performer is playing that whitest of characters. Expect lots of in-jokes and political references. Oh, and some solid singing. See Theatre Openings for details.

What departing gifts did you receive from Canadian Idol? The producers gave each of the top 10 iPods. I also got to keep my wardrobe and sponsor gifts as well as some leftover shoes from the finale that I not-so-secretly stuffed into my backpack.

Should 50 Cent be allowed into the country? Huh? Wow, I am so out of touch with current events. What happened? I’ve been trapped in fairy-tale land for the past month.

Strangest misspelling of your name? Elana Juano.

Who’s your favourite dwarf? Sleepy. He was chill and didn’t have as much of a creepy oompa-loompa vibe as the others.

What’s really in the poisoned apple? Styrofoam. You get used to the taste after a while.
