Tinder might have invented swiping right, but younger users are looking for more substance, prompting the dating app to add more features.

Tinder has rolled out a brand new look alongside a slew of updated features designed to let people’s personalities shine.

The new features include profile prompts to help spark conversation, a profile quiz to discover compatibility potential, basic info tags to minimize guesswork, enhanced reporting to ensure a safer and more respectful experience, a redesign with User Interface updates, enhanced animations, a new “It’s a Match!” screen, and dark mode for improved discretion and late night interactions.

The overhaul comes after Tinder’s Future of Dating Report found that 69 per cent of participating Gen Zers agreed that dating standards needed refreshing to fit a more modern and diverse society.

“We know the new generation of daters prioritizes value-based qualities,” Chief Product Officer at Tinder Mark Van Ryswyk said in a statement.

Data collected by Tinder also found that 78 per cent of users valued the quality of respect, and 61 per cent stated open-mindedness overlooks, which 56 per cent of respondents said was a priority.

Since Tinder first launched in 2012, the online dating landscape has shifted drastically and Tinder has gone from an app used to find a fleeting rendezvous to a resource that facilitates meaningful meet-ups.

“[Users] care about authentic connections formed through shared interests and common causes and have no time for the ‘game-playing’ of previous generations. They want to portray their true authentic selves and expect the same in return,” Van Ryswyk said.
