Sinfonia Toronto’s “VERDI & FRANCK – Delicious Romance” concert highlights two of the greatest Romantic-era composers writing with all the melodic beauty and deep expression developed through their long and prominent careers. An orchestral version of César Franck’s sensual Piano Quintet will display the commanding artistry of Canadian pianist Jean’Philippe Sylvestre, and the intensely lyrical Symphony for Strings by Giuseppe Verdi will make listers wish that the famous opera composer had found time to write more purely instrumental music. Maestro Nurhan Arman will also lead the orchestra in the world premiere of eminent Saskatchewan composer Wayne Toews’ “Moonlit Lake,” a tribute to the noted Kwakiutl artist Awasaklas (Russell Smith).
