Will Munro

Rating: NNNNN

Fabulous local queer artist and activist known for his unbelievable underwear art and for founding long-running trashy queer rock ‘n’ roll dance party Vazaleen.

Who’s the best queer activist?

“First off, R.I. P., George Hislop , one of Toronto’s incredible gay activists, who recently passed away at the age of 78. I would nominate Tim McCaskell as one of the finest. He’s been around since the early days of Toronto’s gay community and is still active today. Honourable mention to Glad Day Books , which needs more support in its legal battles to make it possible to beat censorship.”

What gallery throws the best parties?

Zsa Zsa Gallery had the best parties, hands down — in Andrew Harwood‘s living room. They’ll be fondly remembered, though he’s throwing much bigger events now. Check him out at the Toronto Alternative Art Fair International (at the Drake , 1150 Queen West, November 3-7 with performers like Leslie & the Lies , Peaches , Stink Mitt and lots more.”
