Toronto Gallery Openings: Daphne Odjig, Jordan Broadworth and more

Don't miss the city's latest gallery openings.

Daphne Odjig: A Retrospective, at Gallery Gevik, November 12 to December 10, reception 1 pm, talk 3 pm November 12.

OCAD Indigenous visual culture prof and artist Bonnie Devine gives a talk at the reception for this show of works on paper by Woodland style painter Odjig, who died in October at 97.

Jordan Broadworth: The Adjacent Possible, at General Hardware Contemporary, November 12 to December 23.

The New York-based Canadian painter shows new layered, wet-into-wet paintings that depart from his previous more geometric, grid-based abstractions, which recall textiles or pixelation, for more organic all-over patterns.

Venessa Heddle: Funeral Wells

Infinity Of Intimate Space, at InterAccess, November 16 to December 10, reception 7-9 pm November 16, curator tour 1-2 pm November 19.

The 15th instalment of Current, the gallery’s annual emerging artist group show, is curated by recent grad Aliya Karmali, with videos by Jennifer Akkermans, Ilze Briede (Kavi), Connor Buck and Venessa Heddle that explore the poetics of space through memories and dreams.
