SUMMARY:Propeller presents New Work by Jacques Descoteaux & Andres Vosu
DESCRIPTION:Night-time\, Day-time | Jacques Descoteaux\nThe exhibition Night-time\, Day-time is intended as a metaphor for the times in which we live. The darkened sky and choppy sea depicted by Jacques Descoteaux could evoke the climate upheavals\, socio-economic tensions and conflicts of our era. Yet the luminous reflections and clear skies that feature in other works offer a glimmer of hope. Jacques maintains an ambiguity: night\, day\, night\, day. It is up to each viewer to find meaning in it\, to recognize their own story. \nThe works in this exhibition\, like most of Descoteaux’s paintings\, draw inspiration from the landscape\, the memory of a moment\, or the impression left by a glance towards the sky or the sea. His paintings thus become abstract landscapes\, straddling the boundary between reality and emotion. \nCorrugation Reformulation | Andres Vosu\nCorrugation Reformulation was created due to my ongoing experimentation  with corrugated cardboard. My previous work with corrugated cardboard created mostly 2-dimensional works. For this gallery show\, I produced some works that were three-dimensional. \nI became determined to find out exactly how sculptural I could get using this material. A few of these works became more than only about shape and form\, as I attempted to add conceptualism. \nFor other works\, I distressed or flattened the corrugations. Also\, some works ended up being somewhat brutalist\, as I did not apply any paint to them. Finally\, for me\,  Corrugation Reformulation will continue to be a creative direction to develop further.
