Chet Faker and the Ashbridges Bay fireworks

I’m a little torn on this because fireworks are generally awful for the environment. But the lights, sounds and warm community feeling the 15-minute display at Ashbridges Bay Park bring sure is a fun way to end the weekend and kick off summer.

You can see the fireworks from different spots in the east end, but people tend to meet in the park, and along Lakeshore between Carlaw and Woodbine. Keep in mind that Queen East is a complete nightmare on account of the streetcar construction. Starts at 9:45 pm.

Ever since Australian Chet Faker wrote a hit, he’s been trying to prove he’s not all pop. You’ll find him at the Hoxton tonight. More here.

Tim Gilbert has a tumblr of horrible tattoos designed by him, and he’s probably one of the funniest guys in town. Tonight and tomorrow, he’s recording a live comedy album at the Ossington. Find out more here.
