The WordPlay Festival, Saturday (November 7) at the Toronto Reference Library, celebrates the most fascinating uses of writing and words in contemporary games. Included on the mainstage program are interactive fiction star Emily Short, visual novelist Christine Love in conversation with fellow developer Kara Stone, author Sherwin Tjia, Sam Barlow, the development team of Night In The Woods and more. Plus, there’s a showcase of playable games selected by creators, critics and writers from within the text-narrative game community. It’s all proof that gaming isn’t just for mindless couch potatoes.
