Kirshner’s debut novel, Where We Have To Go (McClelland & Stewart), lived up to the promise she showed in contributions she made to NOW when she was just in her teens. She shows terrific powers of observation as she tracks her protagonist Lucy’s high school years, especially in a knockout section about her incarceration in a house for the “criminally thin.” Kirshner’s funny, too.
