WHAT: Out Of Captivity, Black Line Studio (577 King West, 416-?850-?8227), to May 31.
WHY: These two artists’ powerful black-?and-?white prints work well together. Johnson shoots barbed fencing and political street murals that survive as reminders of the Troubles in Northern Ireland, while Bradley’s lonely works show the interiors of unnamed abandoned prisons. Both artists capture the stark and raw feeling of now-?quiet environments marked by violence and trauma.
BUZZ: Johnson is also a writer whose articles have appeared in the Walrus and This Magazine. Bradley is the photo editor of the Ryerson Free Press and will be showing at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition.
