Montrealers Patrick Dionne and Miki Gingras, through their organization DIASOL, taught pinhole photography to young Nicaraguans who sell food on the street, break rocks or sort garbage.

For Humanidad – Working Children, the duo have enhanced and enlarged the children’s distorted, unfocused shots, sometimes pairing them in diptychs.
The technique imparts a ghostly, expressionistic quality to the photos, especially those in colour.
Too bad they haven’t included the children’s names and stories, which the photographers say they record as part of the workshop process.
