Hello, houseguests: Big Brother Canada is back and looking for cast members

Reality TV fanatics, Big Brother Canada is officially back and you could be one of the competition’s new house guests.

After a two year hiatus, the reality TV game show has found a new home on CTV and Crave, with the new season beginning airing in April 2027. Earlier this summer, Bell Media announced the franchise’s revival and appointed Andrea Bain from The Social as host.

Big Brother first hit Canadian TV screens in 2000, after Global acquired the rights to air the United States version from CBS. But an official adaptation didn’t launch in Canada until early 2013. 

Big Brother Canada premiered in February 2013 and aired for 12 seasons until 2024. The series was cancelled due to a slew of reasons, including waning audience viewership, a need for more sponsors, and rising production and licensing costs. 

The show follows a group of contestants, also known as house guests, who move into a custom-built house that’s isolated from the outside world. The house is bugged with cameras and microphones, tracking the contestants’ every move. They all compete to become Head of Household and vote to evict “untrustworthy” house guests. At the end of each season, the last person standing wins.

Although there is no casting deadline, those interested should send in their applications as soon as possible as the casting team will review applications in the order they are received. Applicants must be at least 19 years of age and a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
