On Saturday, Caesar shocked Toronto fans with a surprise show at Trinity Bellwoods Park downtown. The pop-up concert in his hometown was the first of a free tour he’s doing across North America ahead of his new album, Son of Spergy, releasing on Oct. 24. Caesar has not confirmed which cities he will be performing in.

Right before Caesar’s show in Toronto, videos on social media show a huge crowd of fans running across the park to get a glimpse of the star. The videos also show Caesar walking through the crowd with minimal security, prompting some concerns online about his safety.

Fellow Canadian singer Mustafa the Poet joined Caesar for his performance. The singers had a minimal set up, with them sitting on stools singing into microphones, while Caesar played his guitar. Caesar sang some of his biggest hits, including “Always” and “Best Part” and at least one song from his new album.

Meanwhile, thousands of fans surrounded them for the free show, with the crowd singing along and erupting into cheers after each song.
