Canadian actor and comedian Mike Myers shared a video dancing to the TTC’s underground musicians, and it’s prompting reactions online.
Jumping on one of the internet’s latest trends, the comedian posted an Instagram video of himself dancing at TTC’s Bloor-Yonge Station with the caption “Kinda chic to dance in the subway.”
The comedian appeared to be moving to a piano tune by one of the subway buskers who regularly perform on subway stations as part of the TTC’s Subway Musicians program.
The program has been active for over 44 years, and brings about 89 licensed musicians to perform at dedicated spaces throughout different subway stations. According to the TTC, among the programs’ performers are two Juno Award winners, Royal Conservatory of Music graduates, published musicians and symphony performers.
To participate in the program, 175 accepted artists must participate in frequent auditions, from which 89 are issued a license to perform in the spaces. They can then hold the license for three years.

‘I would’ve flipped’
Myers’ subway dance sparked reaction among Canadians online, including a beloved TTC subway operator Uncle Crawfy, who went viral for brightening commuters’ day with his heartfelt messages.
“You’re welcome to dance on my train anytime ❤️❤️❤️,” he commented on Myers’ post.
American actress and singer Tia Carrere also reacted, saying “I am so coming up to TO to search the subways for you.”
Other users shared enthusiasm for seeing the comedian in the subway system.
“Huh?!?! I would’ve flipped!!!!” one user said.
“If I see Mike Myers dancing in the subway, I am joining him,” a different person said.
Some users also appeared shocked to see that no one seemed to notice the comedian.
“How are people just walking past and not realising who that is,” one person said.
“Everyone [is] walking by thinking who is this weird old guy, not realizing the comedic genius Unfolding in front of them,” TV personality Eli Cuevas commented.
“How did that lady just casually walk by Mike?!! Girl I’d be crying and waiting to say hi,” a different person added.
Who is Mike Myers?
Myers is an iconic culture figure in Canada, known for starring different characters on Saturday Night Live and acting in hit films such as Shrek and Austin Powers.
The comedian was also an important figure in popularizing the term “elbows up” in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs last year, after appearing on SNL wearing a “Canada is not for sale” T-shirt, while pointing to his left elbow and mouthing “elbows up” to the camera.
The term, which became known as a symbol of resilience during the trade war, makes reference to a strategy used by Canadian hockey legend Gordie Howe of using his elbows to fight for the puck, which led him to become known as Mr. Elbows.
