Strong and Quiet

A QUIET PLACE by Brendan Gall, directed by Geoffrey Pounsett (single theatre). Jan 10 and Jan 12 at 9:15 pm, Jan 13 at 5:15 pm. Rating: NNNN

In this intriguing, highly physical two-hander that nods to Beckett, actors James Cade and Christopher Stanton completely embody Henry and David, characters inexplicably confined to a small, bare room who struggle to make sense of their situation and relationship.

Writer Brendan Gall’s script creates tension through raw violence and existential questions, then relieves it with laugh-aloud wit. Director Geoffrey Pounsett’s inventive staging completely fills the empty space, while Jason Golinsky’s lighting intensifies the creepy, claustrophobic feeling.
