Toronto, get ready to see some hot takes on the TTC.
YouTube Canada has unveiled a slate of new shows from popular creators, including features from Vancouver TikToker Jeenie and Johnny, chef Matty Matheson, and Emmy-nominated comedian Kareem Rahma, who is the founder and host of hit talk show Subway Takes.
Subway Takes sees Rahma asking celebrities and average New Yorkers for their hot takes as they ride the subway together. He famously clips his microphone to a — now defunct — MetroCard and opens the conversation with, “So, what’s your take?”
Rahma counters his guest’s hot takes with either, “100 per cent agree/disagree,” a phrase that has gone viral on social media.
In his new show, Subway Takes Toronto, Rahma will ask Torontonians their burning opinions on the TTC. He says the series will debut next month and yes, he will be clipping his microphone to a Presto Card.
Since learning about this exciting development, Toronto residents have been sounding off on social media, with one person writing on X, “He needs to do it on Line 2 for the real good sh**”
Another X user agreed, responding with, “Line 2 is where he’ll get the best content. He’s gotta get the crackled announcements in there too,” referencing the garbled service alerts made by well-meaning subway conductors.
On the flip side, one commenter referenced the art of putting in earbuds and ignoring the world — a skill Torontonians have perfected — writing, “New York’s famous SubwayTakes is coming to Toronto.
