- The initiative reflects YBIB’s belief that supporting young people means investing in the person behind the business, not just their entrepreneurial success.
At 17 and 10 years old, sisters Sariah and Ariella Morgan have spent years helping young entrepreneurs build their businesses. Now, the duo is launching a new program that puts the focus on something deeper than success: helping young people build confidence, explore their identities and prioritize their mental health.
Sariah Morgan, 17, is the co-founder of Young Bosses in Business (YBIB), a youth-led charitable organization that has supported young entrepreneurs through workshops, markets, and other events for more than five years. Now, Morgan and her younger sister are launching Journey to Self, a new program focused on mental health, wellness, confidence, creativity and self-expression.
The duo is curating an exciting pre-launch event set to take over the Malton Youth Hub at the Jonathan Davis Centre in Mississauga on Nov. 7 from 12-5 p.m.. Open to youth ages six to 18, the afternoon will give participants an opportunity to experience the program before its official launch in 2027. Parents and caregivers are also welcome.
“We’ve spent years helping kids start their businesses and become leaders, but we also know that confidence and knowing who you are play a huge role in that,” Morgan told Now Toronto, explaining the inspiration behind the new program.
“[So we thought] why don’t we actually focus on something that is for you and within you?”
She explained that Journey to Self is designed to help young people better understand who they are, recognize the importance of their voices and feel comfortable expressing themselves. The pre-launch will feature hands-on experiences centred on movement and confidence, creativity and expression, finding one’s voice, and self-care and identity.
The program represents an expansion of YBIB’s work beyond entrepreneurship, with a focus on young people’s well-being and personal development.
“It goes beyond entrepreneurship, and it focuses on the person behind the goals, dreams, and achievements,” Morgan explained.
Journey to Self: Programming built from experience
Morgan’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people began with her own experience as a young entrepreneur. She started her cosmetics business, iAH Beauty, which caters to people with sensitive skin, before co-founding YBIB with Ariella when she was 11, and her sister was five.
The sisters came up with the idea after experiencing challenges selling their products at adult markets. Although they supported other vendors, Morgan says they felt that young entrepreneurs were not receiving the same support in return.
That experience inspired them to create a platform where young business owners could feel encouraged and recognized. Today, YBIB operates youth markets at Bramalea City Centre and Square One, alongside programs that teach young people practical skills. Its Young Boss in the Making program focuses on customer service, financial literacy and marketing, while Mini Boss in the Making encourages younger children to develop leadership skills and confidence.
Journey to Self builds on that foundation by encouraging youth to invest in themselves, not just their future careers or business ambitions. For Morgan, the message behind the new program is simple: young people deserve to feel valued for who they are, not only for what they accomplish.
“We want them to feel confident, supported, and comfortable being themselves,” she says.
The pre-launch also comes as YBIB prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary in 2027, marking five years of creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs and expanding its support for youth.
Those interested in taking part in the Journey to Self pre-launch on Nov. 7 can register for the event through Eventbrite.
