Live

Rating: NNN

A decade ago, Live’s Throwing Copper had people going apeshit over its mystic atmospherics and singing the praises of Ed Kowalczyk’s impassioned delivery. We haven’t heard much from the Penn State boys lately, but that doesn’t detract from the fact that they had some good tunes. This best-of comp relies heavily on Copper’s hits and includes three tracks from the earlier Mental Jewelry, illustrating Live’s huge progression to the likes of Lightning Crashes and Selling The Drama. Lakini’s Juice from Secret Samadhi steals the show, while the rest of the material sounds like variations on the same theme. Fans will dig the previously unreleased We Deal In Dreams along with a cover of I Walk The Line that sounds exactly like Live and nothing like Mr. Cash.
