Ariana is a captivating singer and multi-instrumentalist from Nova Scotia, now based in Montréal, who shares her passion for music through dynamic live performances. Accompanying herself on the chromatic button accordion, she presents a diverse repertoire that includes French chanson, world classics in various languages, jazz, blues, and the occasional classical aria.
Her musical path began in childhood, studying instruments such as saxophone, clarinet, and violin, and playing in jazz bands and wind ensembles. In 2015, after many years working in an original duo, her love of French chanson inspired her to create and tour an Édith Piaf tribute show – a project to which she still gives nods during her eclectic solo performances.
Since 2016, in addition to her solo work, she has regularly appeared in duo with guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Curtis Thorpe as lead singer and soprano saxophonist. Another ongoing project, ASHK, showcases the poetic works of her late father – a Sufi poet from Afghanistan – alongside her sisters Sahara and Kamila Nasr, and brother-in-law Ken Shorley.
