About the Workshop
From Peanuts to Calvin & Hobbes, comic strips are a classic and much-loved art form. In this fun, hands-on workshop, teens will explore the basics of comic storytelling while creating their own original characters and short comic strips.
We’ll spend half the session designing a small cast of characters—thinking about personality, expression, and style—and the other half creating two or three 4-panel comic strips that bring those characters to life through simple stories and visual humor.
What Teens Will Learn & Do
- How comic strips work: structure, pacing, and storytelling
- Creating expressive characters with distinct personalities
- Drawing facial expressions, body language, and simple action
- Planning and sketching short 4-panel comic strips

Reference images will be provided for inspiration, and students are encouraged to experiment and develop their own style.
