What Is Braving Healing Documentary? The documentary wades into the complex, often messy, and sometimes contradicting journeys of healing after childhood sexual abuse. This film weaves together six very different stories of healing, alongside experts and advocates. From struggles with addiction and hitting rock bottom to closure through justice, Braving Healing offers a hopeful, yet sober, invitation to take the next step, however big or small. The documentary was in collaboration with the Gatehouse and Preszler Injury Lawyers. International leaders have described this documentary as “the road map to healing.”
Event Overview
The film will be screened, followed by a moderated panel discussion featuring survivors, advocates, and professionals working in the field of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) to talk about their experiences. Before and after the screening and panel, attendees will have access to the community resource tables offering education, support, and pathways for healing and justice. This event is designed to be survivor-centered, trauma-informed, educational, and highly community-driven.
Why is this event important? Many who have endured CSA leave conversations feeling informed but still without the resources to take the next step. This event bridges the gap by pairing stories of those who have endured csa and the individuals get to speak on their experiences in a curated safe space for dialogue, while offering multiple paths forward through the groups participating.
