Throughout the month of June, the works of artist Nevena Niagolova (www.nevena.org, @nevcheart) are on display at the Yorkville Branch of the Toronto Public Library in an exhibit titled Dancing Lines.
Artist biography:
For Bulgarian-Canadian artist and architect Nevena Niagolova, creativity has always been an inseparable part of life. Her journey, from fine arts in Bulgaria to degrees from OCADU and U of T, fuels a multidisciplinary practice rooted in play and wonder. Her work is an invitation to play, to imagine, and to connect with one another.
Artist statement:
My artwork strives to create a sense of wonder and play. Diversity and inclusivity are intrinsic, as my work begins with only lines, brushstrokes, and colours. There is no prescribed way one should feel or one should think, and no pre-defined themes that one should abide to. It offers the freedom to be curious and to explore. This freedom can spark conversations—people can share what they see, what they imagine, what moves them. Those little connections can make one’s day more pleasant and rich.
This exhibit is part of TPL’s Art Exhibits Space program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighbourhoods.
Free. All are welcome.
The exhibit can be viewed during Yorkville branch open hours.
