Discoveries is Hugh’s Room Live’s monthly artist spotlight series—a curated showcase of compelling performers we believe you need to hear. Some are emerging, some are established, and others are reigniting their creative paths. Whether they’ve played festival main stages or are stepping into the spotlight for the first time, these artists are unified by one thing: they’re making music that deserves your ears. Each edition features a handful of handpicked performers in an intimate, song-driven evening hosted by a featured artist.
Andrea Ramolo—this month’s host and performer—is a multi-disciplinary artist with a career spanning music, film, and television. A Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and award-winning filmmaker, Andrea has released eight studio albums and toured across North America and Europe. Her latest work blends ancestral Italian folk with modern electronic textures, and her recent single “GOLDEN” opened the CBC’s coverage of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. She is also the artistic force behind Our Music Festival, which champions female and gender-diverse voices in music. Passionate, fearless, and fiercely community-minded, Andrea sets the tone for a powerful night of musical discovery.
Sarah MacDougall is an acclaimed Swedish-Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer, celebrated for her poetic storytelling and genre-blending sound. Drawing from folk, rock, and pop traditions, her music explores identity, grief, rebirth, and the landscapes that shape us. Her most recent album, All The Hours I Have Left To Tell You Anything, earned critical praise and award recognition. With past performances at festivals like Reeperbahn and Edmonton Folk Fest, and collaborations with the likes of Bruce Cockburn and Buffy Sainte-Marie, Sarah brings a compelling voice to the Discoveries stage.
Seyblu is a Toronto-based artist with a sound that floats effortlessly between neo-soul, R&B, and jazz. Her smooth vocals and genre-blurring compositions create lush, atmospheric soundscapes that feel both grounded and otherworldly. With a strong sense of style—musically and visually—Seyblu is carving out a space that’s entirely her own.
ECHLO is the latest artistic evolution of Chloe Charles, whose minimalist performances cut straight to the emotional core. With just voice and guitar, ECHLO creates sonic environments that are intimate, cinematic, and deeply personal. Her haunting tone and confessional lyricism are the trademarks of an artist unafraid to stand in her truth.
