ABOUR ELIZABETH RODRIGUEZ
Havana-born, classically trained singer, violinist, and composer Elizabeth Rodriguez is a Latin Grammy and Grammy nominee, as well as a two-time Juno Award winner for her work as the co-leader of the Afro-Cuban duo OKAN. A dynamic performer, she has toured globally across North and South America, Europe, and Asia, captivating audiences with her virtuosic violin work and magnetic stage presence.
Elizabeth’s music blends Afro-Latin, jazz, and classical influences in songs that delve into themes of freedom, justice, bravery, and love. Leading her small ensembles, she offers fresh takes on Latin and jazz classics alongside her striking original compositions. She has performed and recorded with internationally acclaimed artists including Hilario Durán, Munir Hossn, Lido Pimienta, Daymé Arocena, and Bomba Estéreo, among others. Alongside her partner Magdelys Savigne she has recently collaborated with the Walla Walla Symphony in a concert that included her own compositions.For this special presentation, Elizabeth will be joined by multi JUNO Award-winning artists Jeremy Ledbetter on piano, Roberto Riveron on bass and Matias Recharte on drums.
