We kindly invite you to the opening of Nazanin Bakhshandeh’s latest painting exhibition.
Nazanin Bakhshandeh is a Tehran-born painter who lives and works in Canada. To date she has had a long-standing artistic career, and is a member of the Society of Iranan Painters. Bakhshandeh’s work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Tehran and in Toronto, including solo shows at the 26 Gallery of Art (2015) and the Seyhoon Gallery of Art (2004, 2005), and many group shows at the Amirkabir Cultural Centre (1999), the Niavaran Cultural Centre, the Watercolour Biennial (2000), and the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (2023). This will be her first solo show in Toronto.
Bakhshandeh’s work begins with drawing and extends into colour, holding on to the figure while allowing forms to dissolve toward abstraction. For the artist, abstraction itself defines the edge of reality. It’s a realm where independent identities fade, and their ambiguous relationships with each other and the surrounding space inspire emotions that she hopes to capture on the canvas. Still life, people, and animals blur into one another, becoming a pure blend of feeling and form.
