
Explore the history of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and discover how the island airport and its surrounding area has connected Toronto to the world and contributed to Toronto’s aviation history in its over 85 years of flight.
This tour was developed and will be led by Shannon Buskermolen. Shannon is an Emerging Historian and former Programs Assistant with Heritage Toronto, who recently completed a graduate certificate program in Museum and Cultural Management at Centennial College. Shannon holds a double MA in International War Studies from University College Dublin and the University of Potsdam, and a BA Honours in Anthropology and History from Trent University. Shannon is a dedicated to sharing her passion for history and culture through public programming.
Start Point: Southwest corner of Queens Quay West and Eireann Quay (659R Queens Quay West)
End Point: Billy Bishop Airport Terminal Atrium (2 Eireann Quay)
Distance and Terrain: This tour is approximately 1.1 kilometres in distance and takes place predominantly on paved surfaces and city sidewalks. There are some unpaved portions of the route that take place in city parks.
This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
