Free Screening of Incendies

April 15 @ 7:00 pm9:30 pm

Did you know that Wednesday, April 15 is National Canadian Film Day? To celebrate, Playwrights Canada Press has partnered with Reel Canada to host a FREE screening of the Oscar-nominated film Incendies, adapted from the play Scorched, in anticipation of the upcoming publication of Wajdi Mouawad’s epic new play Square Root of the Verb To Be, translated by Linda Gaboriau.

The event will also feature a pop-up bookshop with all of Wajdi Mouawad’s published work in English, available for 30% off—or 50% off when you purchase three or more books!

The screening will take place on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 PM at the Imagine Cinemas Carlton (20 Carlton St., Toronto, ON).

Incendies is a 2010 Canadian film directed by Denis Villeneuve (Dune, Arrival, Prisoners) and adapted from Wajdi Mouawad’s play, Scorched. It received an Academy Award nomination for Best International Feature Film.

Presented by Reel Canada, National Canadian Film Day is a massive, coast-to-coast-to-coast salute to Canadian cinema. Launched in 2014, National Canadian Film Day has brought together hundreds of thousands of Canadians to celebrate our stories and the incredible achievements of our filmmakers.
