Grand Prix

July 17 @ 6:30 pm11:59 pm

“You sit in a box, a coffin, gasoline all around you. It is like being inside a bomb!”

John Frankenheimer’s 1966 film Grand Prix is a brilliant cinematic achievement. Often called “the best film ever made about professional auto racing,” it’s an epic of exhilarating speed, mid-’60s style, dazzling camera work and bold editing techniques.

This all begins right out of the gate, with the opening sequence designed by famed graphic designer Saul Bass, who injects the film with mesmerizing multi-frame montages. Boasting a stellar cast including James Garner, Eva Marie Saint, Yves Montad, Toshiro Mifune, Jessica Walter—even French chanteuse Françoise Hardy—it’s a film that needs to be seen large and loud.

If you like Ford v Ferrari or the hit Netflix series Formula 1: Drive to Survive, this one’s for you. Start your engines.

Presented with an introduction by series host Lola Landekic.

Tickets: $15 (Members from $10) | Under 25? Get your FREE Bronze membership
