Greek Life in the West End Walking Tour

September 13, 2025 @ 3:00 pm4:00 pm

Vintage black and white photo of a man and woman on the street with "Greek Life in the West End" overlay, capturing Greek community involvement in Toronto.

Bloor Street West used to be the hub of Greek life in Toronto during the 1950s and 1960s. With a focus on the working lives of Greek immigrants, we’ll recreate the neighbourhood that welcomed new immigrants and allowed them to function in their new country but still speak Greek and shop in places familiar to them.

This tour was developed and will be led by a volunteer from the Hellenic Heritage Foundation.

Start Point: Northeast corner of Bloor Street West and Russett Avenue (1140 Bloor St W)

End Point: Bloor Street West and Palmerston Avenue

Distance and Terrain: This tour is approximately 2 kilometers in distance and takes place predominantly on paved city sidewalks and streets. There are some unpaved portions of the route that take place in city parks.

This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the tour guide throughout the tour.
