In the Dark, We All Sound the Same

May 22, 2026 @ 09:15 pm - May 23, 2026 @ 10:15 pm

Three strangers—a Muslim Pakistani journalist, an American student, and a Trinidadian worker—find themselves detained at a North Ohio immigration center, where the walls meant to isolate them become the site of unexpected connections.

Inspired by real, documented accounts of immigration detention, this play holds up a mirror to an ongoing crisis and asks us to look not just at the injustice, but at the humanity that survives it.

Cast: Eóin Leahy, Daniya Ahmed, Simu Chitondo

Written by Faizan Bokhari
Directed by Rachel Abramovich
Stage Managed by Isabelle Wise
Props/Costumes by Vanessa Leu

In the Dark, We All Sound the Same is a workshopped performance presented as part of Theatre Ya Knowww’s Pan-Asian Theatre Festival, a multi-day celebration of emerging artists of Asian identity, running this May in recognition of Asian Heritage Month, Canada’s annual celebration of Asian contributions, cultures, and histories.
