Mezar is a band that bridges ancestral traditions and contemporary sound explorations. Their music brings together oriental afro blues — drawing on Sub-Saharan heritages — with analogue textures and a research-driven approach to sound. The result is a music both rooted in ancestral memory and open to futuristic horizons.
The group gained early recognition with a debut album and the title of Radio-Canada Revelation in world music (under the name Nomad Stones), which led to tours across North America. In 2024, Mezar released the EP “Sohan”, supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, exploring the story of a Tuareg dreaming of becoming an astronaut. Presented at the MaMA Festival in Paris and finalist for the Prix des Musiques d’Ici, this project marked a turning point for the band.
Now signed to the Canadian-Jordanian label Keife Records, Mezar is preparing a new album while continuing to perform on European and international stages, carrying their unique blend of heritage and sonic innovation.
