Two stellar soloists, music from Baroque to modern-Romantic, and a bouquet of beautiful spring melodies, Sinfonia Toronto’s April concert is a beautifully colourful evening.
Oboist Caitlin Broms-Jacobs, praised for her “gorgeous singing tone” and principal oboist of the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, opens with Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Mozetich’s Calla Lilies, a luminous meditation on beauty and loss. Violinist Tina Sievers, winner of the 2025 Sinfonia Toronto Concerto Competition, follows with Schubert’s Rondo in A Major and the dazzling fireworks of Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen (Gypsy Airs), before Maestro Nurhan Arman leads the orchestra in his own arrangement of Mozart’s cheerful “Spring” String Quartet.
