Spotlight at The Second City

Dec 9, 2025 @ 07:30 pm - Dec 10, 2025 @ 09:30 pm

Spotlight at The Second City is happy to announce the final monthly showcase of 2025 will feature two dynamic duos Andy Assaf & Vivek Srikanthan, and Glen & Vinny, on December 9 and 10, 2025 at The Second City’s Theatre ‘73 in Toronto.

Each month Spotlight at The Second City features two premier troupes performing 30 minute shows for a two night run. Hosted and produced by Taylor Hreljac and Gabe Meacher, this series presents sketch comedy’s best troupes in their best light.

Winners of the Dumbest of the Fest Award at Denver Sketchfest 2025, Andy Assaf and Vivek Srikanthan are two solo comedians who met performing on the sketch festival circuit across North America. This time, they team up to bring their signature characters – and the dumbest ideas they are too scared to try by themselves. Come see what Andy’s auntie called “a real Laurel and Hardy vibe“.

Clown duo Glen and Vinny got their start as grips on The Johnny Carson show, and after sleeping their way to the middle, booked a Disney Cruise and are thrilled to be making their Second City debut. Catch them for one night only, December 9th and December 10th!

Andy Assaf, originally from Montreal, is a Toronto-based sketch and improv comedian and The Second City Toronto Mainstage alum. Known for his roles on FX’s What We Do In The Shadows, and The Recruit on Netflix, he now performs regularly on Toronto’s character showcase Monster Island. Festival credits include: Montreal, Toronto, Denver, Chicago and DC Sketchfest, Vancouver Improv Festival Ensemble, and NYC – Del Close Marathon. Vivek Srikanthan is a Toronto-based sketch comedian, best known for his idiotic, self-reflexive, and self-deprecating style of solo comedy. He has previously performed sketch festivals across North America including Denver, Toronto, Montreal, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Philly Sketchfest as well as Toronto and Vancouver Fringe.

Glen and Vinny’s alter egos, Ben Kopp and Calvin Rea, are prolific in the Toronto theatre community. Ben Kopp has recently performed in Bad Hats Theatre’s Alice in Wonderland, Soulpepper Theatre’s Dora award winning Alligator Pie, and wrote the music and lyrics to Iris (says goodbye) at the 2025 Toronto Fringe Festival, winning the Adam’s Prize for Musical Theatre and TOLive’s Best of Fringe. Calvin Rea is a playwright and actor, and recently starred in the Canadian Premier of The Comeback at Globus Theatre. He also wrote the music for Globus Theatre’s production of Murder at the Blue Moon Saloon, and produced a workshop of his play Everything You Did For Me at Tarragon Theatre.
