HMS Pinafore was the first international hit of Gilbert and Sullivan, and often performed by the North Toronto Players. Back in 1999, NTP boldly went where no G&S aficionados had gone before and set the popular nautical operetta in the Star Trek universe. This year we return to the Alpha Quadrant with a remount of a favourite staging. Our return to outer space is like a return home. Starship Pinafore was a major step forward as the North Toronto Players sought new ways to bring Gilbert and Sullivan to the stage. Star Trek matches G&S for staying power (after 803 series episodes, 14 feature films and 60 years of merchandizing) and we are excited to bring these two popular icons together again.
