Canadian comedian and actor Nate Friedman is proud to announce the world premiere of his short film The Hand Model will be hosted at Carlton Cinema in Toronto on December 11, 2025. The Hand Model is an absurd off-beat comedy that follows the story of Jay, who uses his inheritance to follow his dream of becoming a hand model in the Big City. This special event will include appearances from cast and creatives before hitting the festival circuit in 2026.
Written, directed and produced by Nate Friedman, The Hand Model is a 37 minute film starring Nate Friedman (Jay), Gunjan (Bea), Paul Bellini (Dad), Anton Zemers (Lil’ Jay), Matthew Seeley (Busker) Liam West (Armand), Steven Hobé (Big Wig), Joseph Whittle (Joe Starr), and Robert Knox (Le Main).
When Jay receives an inheritance from his late father, and decides it’s time to follow his dream to become a hand model in the Big City, he does his best to not let his naive nature get the best of him. The Hand Model is a picaresque circular narrative reminiscent of “The Jerk” or “Napoleon Dynamite”, with a strong message to go after your dreams and not take life too seriously.
