How do we capture the sound of Jane and Finch — its stories, struggles, and hopes — through music and shared experience?
In this in-person music workshop, participants will explore the process of music-making in a studio setting, including lyric writing, poetry, beat integration, and recording. No experience is needed — you don’t have to be a singer or rapper to take part.
It’s recommended that participants come with at least an idea for a song and a free beat selected from YouTube or online (if you’re not a producer bringing your own beats). There will be a mix of experience levels in the room, so it’s a great opportunity to learn, share, and grow together.
For artists who are more experienced, this is a chance to access free studio time, connect with other creatives, and have footage captured of your process and story. While we’re not placing limits on the content or style of your work, we do encourage pieces that reflect the spirit of Jane and Finch — grounded in truth, but carrying a tone of hope and vision for the future.
Food will be provided on site, and small gift cards will be given to youth who actively contribute during the session.
Note: If you’re interested in joining our Youth Mentee Stream, which includes mentorship, leadership opportunities, and participation in the remaining 4 workshops, please complete the separate Youth Mentee Google Form. Signing up through that form will automatically register you for the full Terra Pulse program.
