The Taste of Iceland Festival November 20-22

Taste of Iceland returns to Toronto from Thursday, November 20, through Saturday, November 22. The cultural festival celebrates Iceland with events across the city showcasing the best of Icelandic culture, including food, music, nature, design, comedy, travel, and more. Most events are free and open to the public, including two free concerts, a prix fixe Icelandic dining experience, a molten lava demonstration, and a comedy show with complimentary cocktails inspired by Icelandic flavors.

Tickets are required and guests are encouraged to arrive promptly to guarantee entry. Tickets are available on the Taste of Iceland Toronto website.

Thursday, November 20 – Saturday, November 22

Icelandic Menu at The Dorset: Ready to taste a plate full of Iceland? Chef Snaedis Xyza Mae Ocampo, Head Chef at Fröken Reykjavík and Manager of the Icelandic Culinary Team, and The Dorset District Executive Chef Ryan Lister, will prepare a feast inspired by Iceland’s natural beauty and local flavors, including cod from Icelandic Seafood and High Liner Foods and lamb from Icelandic Lamb. This pop-up dining experience is available each evening from 4:45 PM to 9:45 PM at The Dorset. Thursday, November 20

From the Depths of Iceland – Dýpi: bulthaup Toronto will host Dýpi, an Icelandic design innovation company that pioneers plastic-free paints made from sustainably harvested algae. Each color captures the essence of Icelandic nature, bringing the calm strength of Iceland into modern spaces, where nature and design meet in perfect balance. A special opening event will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday at bulthaup Toronto. Guests can also visit the exhibition on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Iceland Airwaves Off-Venue: Enjoy a free concert curated by Iceland Airwaves, an award-winning music festival in Reykjavík, featuring RAKEL and Spacestation, with DJ Hermigervill spinning Icelandic tunes between sets. RAKEL’s music folds together voice and emotion into layered compositions that feel both intimate and expansive. Spacestation combines unique guitar techniques and tunings with the attitude of 1960s psychedelia. Icelandic music icon, DJ Hermigervill, is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer, and DJ, who has worked with notable Icelandic artists, produced Icelandic number-one hits, and released many records under various guises. Friday, November 21

Demo & Dine: Icelandic Lunch Experience: Join Icelandic Chefs Hafliði Halldórsson and Snaedis Xyza Mae Ocampo for a culinary adventure from Iceland. The chefs will guide guests through the preparation and presentation of key dishes from the Taste of Iceland menu, including a wild Icelandic cod starter, an Icelandic Lamb main course, and a dessert featuring skyr. 12:00 to 1:30 PM at The Dorset. The Reykjavík Jazz Festival Presents: Skuli Sverrisson and Oskar Guðjonsson: Enjoy a free concert curated by the Reykjavík Jazz Festival featuring two of Iceland’s most distinctive voices in contemporary jazz, Óskar Guðjónsson and Skúli Sverrisson. This concert will be their first Canadian appearance as a duo, offering a rare opportunity to experience the understated power and musical intimacy that define Iceland’s vibrant jazz scene. 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Jazz Bistro. Experience Real Icelandic Lava in Toronto: Lava Show will ignite Taste of Iceland with a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle: bringing real molten lava to Toronto! Experience Lava Show’s portable lava furnace—the only one of its kind in the world—recreating the raw power of a volcanic eruption in a safe and controlled environment. This thrilling display is not only a spectacular sight, but also a rare chance to connect with Iceland’s fiery natural forces and learn about the country’s unique volcanic landscape. Draw Iceland’s Stories! Family Workshop with Illustrator Rán Flygenring: Join award-winning Icelandic storyteller and illustrator Rán Flygenring for a playful, inspiring family art workshop where imagination meets Icelandic nature and history. In this workshop, Rán invites children and parents alike to explore storytelling through drawing, doodling, and other creative activities. Families will learn about Iceland’s powerful landscapes, trailblazing leaders, and creative spirit. All ages are welcome, and no prior art experience is required—just curiosity, imagination, and a sense of fun! 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Thornton – Smith Building – Aperture Room. Northern Lights in Toronto: Learn about Iceland’s fascinating northern lights—which are expected to shine even brighter in 2025, 2026, and 2027—with astronomy and science educator, Sævar “Astro-Sævar” Helgi Bragason, hosted by Icelandia. Sævar will explain why Iceland is the perfect place to view the August 12, 2026, solar eclipse and recommend his favorite tours in Iceland. Guests will also be invited to experience Iceland through virtual reality, with a focus on Icelandia’s Northern Lights tours, Glacier Hikes, and ATV tours. 3:00 to 4:00 PM at Thornton-Smith Building – Aperture Room. Comedy & Cocktails with Ragnar Ísleifur Bragason and Bergur Ebbi: Get ready for an evening of laughter hosted by Icelandair, Iceland Hotel Collection by BERJAYA—who will treat guests to a complimentary cocktail infused with the local flavors and sense of place found across their hotels in Iceland—and Blue Lagoon Iceland, who will provide guests with a skincare gift. At this one-night-only comedy event, two Icelanders are flying to Toronto to reveal the quirky truths, cultural oddities, and straight-up strange realities of Iceland. Comedians and storytellers Ragnar Ísleifur Bragason and Bergur Ebbi will share hilarious personal stories, offer wildly unqualified advice, and roast what tourists get wrong…every single time.
