Two Roses: A Story of Deception and Determination in Nazi Germany

March 25 @ 7:00 pm9:00 pm

Join us for an evening celebrating Holocaust survivor Rose Lipszyc and the launch of Two Roses: A Story of Deception and Determination in Nazi Germany, a powerful new graphic novel that honours her life and legacy. Two Roses recounts how Rose escaped deportation in 1942 and endured years of forced labour during the Second World War. Through artist Miriam Libicki’s evocative storytelling, the novel traces Rose’s remarkable survival and her later life devoted to Holocaust education.

The evening will feature a panel discussion with Rose Lipszyc, Miriam Libicki, and co-editors Mark Celinscak and Charlotte Schallié. Moderated by Professor Sara R. Horowitz (York University).

Don’t miss this special celebration in honour of Rose that brings together survivor testimony, art, and scholarship to reflect the enduring importance of preserving and interpreting Holocaust narratives.

This event draws on research by the Survivor-Centred Visual Narratives project and is supported in part by funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Government of Canada.

Light refreshments will be served. Kashrut observed.
Books available for purchase at the program.
