Merv xx Gotti is an award-winning Asian-Canadian singer-songwriter, best known for his solo dream-folk project, Guitar Songs.
His debut solo release, Guitar Songs EP, released in March 2024. The EP’s first single, “Jiujitsu”, was named one of CBC’s Top 100 Canadian Songs of 2024 and received airplay on over 21 CBC stations, as well as a dozen campus radio stations across Canada and the U.S. – the largest syndication pickup for a Saskatchewan song in the past five years.
The EP went on to amass over a quarter million streams on Spotify and spent over a dozen weeks on Earshot’s Top 30 charts.
Known for his captivating live performances, Merv xx Gotti has toured extensively across North America, playing premier international festivals such as a five show debut at SXSW, as well as performances at NXNE, BreakOut West, and M for Montréal. He has also shared the stage with Canadian icons like Chantal Kreviazuk, Great Lake Swimmers, and Big Sugar.
In 2025, he won Music Professional of the Year at this year’s Saskatchewan Music Awards, and was nominated for’ SK Arts’ Arts of Celebration – Established Artists & Arts Leaders.
He is currently on tour, performing at renowned Canadian festivals such as Mariposa Folk Fest, SaskJazz Festival, and Folk On The Rocks, leading up to his debut album release in the fall, Guitar Songs: A Thesis On Low Efficiency Emotional Excavation.
