The weekend is here, and while the heat wave is officially over, the weather is still beautiful and there are plenty of ways to get outside and enjoy summertime in Toronto this weekend. 

From a festival celebrating all things hip-hop to the Toronto Honda Indy, here are some events happening in Toronto this weekend. 

Friday, July 18 

Ontario Honda Dealer’s Indy Toronto

The Ontario Honda Dealer’s Indy, aka the Honda Indy, is set to take over Exhibition Place from Friday through Sunday.

Various practices and qualifying races are scheduled for the three-day event, with the major race on Sunday. The schedule can be found here

Cars will be racing on a 2.84-km, 11-turn temporary course spanning around and throughout the Exhibition Place grounds and Lake Shore Blvd. A list of resulting road closures that drivers should be aware of can be found here.

Panamerican Food & Music Festival

The Panamerican Food & Music Festival is back for its 13th annual celebration of the stories, heritage and creativity spanning across the region. 

The festival will take over Nathan Phillips Square from Friday through Sunday. In addition to delicious delicacies and live performances, the festival features the Panamerican Parade, with 500 international performers and 25 countries showing off their most festive Carnaval traditions.

While the three-day affair celebrates all things Panamerica, this year has a special focus on Mexico. Attendees can look forward to live performances, demonstrations, interactive activations and more.

Good Vibes Only Tour

Good vibes and summer tunes will fill Budweiser Stage on Friday, when Sean Paul and Wiz Khalifa take over the venue for the Toronto stop of their ongoing Good Vibes Only tour.

The show will also feature special guest, rapper DaBaby.

BrazilFest

Celebrate all things Brazil this weekend at a two-day, free event filled with delicious food, music, and Brazilian culture. 

Head to Earlscourt Park, located near Caledonia Rd. and St. Clair Ave. W. for BrazilFest. The event will take over the park from 12-11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, where you can immerse yourself in rhythmic beats, vibrant colours and rich culture with Brazilian music, dance and tradition.

Unity Fest

Head to the Harbourfront Centre on Saturday for Unity Fest, a celebration of all things hip-hop.. 

From 1-9 p.m., attendees can enjoy countless ways to learn about the genre, explore the culture, and express themselves through hip-hop. 

The event features dance battles and exhibitions, live music, DJs, activations, interactive activities, workshops, meet and greets and networking events. There will be a vendor marketplace, as well as local restaurants and eateries selling delicious food on site.

Festival of South Asia

The 23rd annual Festival of South Asia is taking over Gerrard India Bazaar Saturday and Sunday, from 12-11 p.m.

The event features family-friendly activities, including interactive workshops for kids. Vendors will be selling food and other goods, while live music and entertainment will keep the good vibes going all weekend. 

The festival includes two stages, with over 200 performances scheduled across the two-day event.

Dino Run

Calling all dinosaur lovers, it’s time to lace up your running shoes, because the Dino Run is about to be unleashed across The Bentway Skate Trail from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 pm.

The event kicks off with dino specialists giving participants a lesson about the prehistoric creatures using song, dance, storytelling and games. Then the race begins, with kids hitting the track to chase runaway dinosaurs during a non-competive run around the trail.

Don’t worry if running isn’t your thing, the whole course is only 220 metres, and is open to kids of all ages and their family members. 

Admission is $20 per child, while adult parents and family members can join their little ones for free. Kids must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

OMADA at Soluna 

OMADA is returning to the rooftop of Soluna for a day party filled with good vibes, global sound and unforgettable moments this Sunday.

Attendees can dance the day away to sets from DJs Kill Them With Colour, Crunch, Jonathan Amar, Dylan Gaon, and MOJIE. Beverages, curated food and tapas will be available for purchase.

Party-goers are asked to dress to impress, and are prompted to make their outfits elevated, bold, and unforgettable.

National Ice Cream Day at The Well

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! Luckily, Ben & Jerry’s is serving up free scoops of ice cream. 

Their ice cream truck will be at The Well from 12-6 p.m., dishing out free ice cream in honour of the day. 

Meanwhile, the ice cream truck will be hitting the streets all weekend, bringing the Doughlivery activation to Toronto streets and giving residents the chance to grab some free ice cream and other surprises. Plus, those making a restaurant order on Uber Eats may also get a free Ben & Jerry’s pint delivered straight to their door.

Toronto Outdoor Picture Show: Before I Change My Mind

Head to Christie Pitts on Sunday evening for a free outdoor movie. 

This Sunday, the Toronto Outdoor Picture Show will be screening the film Before I Change My Mind, a new feature film by queer Canadian filmmaker Trevor Anderson. The movie follows the coming-of-age story of a non-binary pre-teen in Edmonton during the 1980s. Plus, viewers can enjoy a selection of Canadian queer short films alongside the feature film, including Death to the Bikini!, I Like Girls, and Goblin High.

Bring your own blankets, camping chairs, and comfy clothes and enjoy a night of community. Snacks will be on sale from 6 p.m., while the show starts at 9 p.m.
