In Aldous Huxley’s 1932 novel Brave New World, “soma” is the name of the powerful drug that a government of the future uses to keep everyone officially happy. They needn’t have bothered now that we have David Castellan and Cynthia Leung’s similarly named chocolate factory. If dark Peruvian chocolate almond clusters or a shot of Mayan hot chocolate chased with a scoop of house-made Venezuelan chocolate dairy-free sorbet – most fair-trade and organic – aren’t enough to cheer you up, little else likely will.
