Denison’s Done

Rating: NNNNN

Suits in the core are crying in their beer now that the Denison’s complex at Victoria and Lombard — including Growler’s, Conchy Joe’s and Louie’s Brasserie restaurants as well as the renowned Denison’s microbrewery — is kaput.

Surrounded by parking lots deep in the heart of condo-crazy Hogtown and sitting on some of downtown’s priciest undeveloped real estate, its demise doesn’t come as much of a surprise. According to the notice posted on its front door, the pub has been padlocked since January 17 due to arrears in rent.

Sadly, there’s no word on the fate of the 10,000 litres of beer on-site, around 3,000 of which are Denison’s prized Weisse bier. Anyone got a really long hose and a siphon?
