Enter Enoteca

Enoteca Sociale (1288 Dundas W), the long-in-the-works sequel to the wildly popular Ossington pizzeria, is about to open its doors.

“We’ve set the date for June 8th and we’re hoping to hit that target,” says co-owner chef Rocco Agostino. “We’ll be in there this week to start working out the kinks.”

Unlike Libretto, the focus will be on rustic Roman fare.

“We’ll have traditional dishes like saltimbocco alla Romano and coda alla vaccinara. Dishes that are simple but boldly flavoured, but no pizza.”

Another difference: the 90-seat Enoteca will take reservations.

“The room’s a little warmer, a little friendlier than Libretto,” Agostino continues. “We want people to be comfortable, to hang around longer.”

Does the former Silver Spoon and Ferro chef and partners Max Rimaldi and Daniel Clark see another resto in their immediate future?

“Definitely not,” laughs Agostino.

Not even the much-rumoured second Pizzeria Libretto?

“Well, there might be.”[rssbreak]
