Grace goes grill

Rising from the ashes of snooty Xacutti, Leslie Gibson’s Grace (503 College, at Palmerston, 416-944-8884) isn’t the sort of A-list hot spot where you expect to find bargain-basement barbecue in the upstairs lounge. But every Thursday evening from 8 pm till last call, $10 gets you a plateful of chef Dustin Gallagher’s slow-braised pork shoulder, char-grilled chicken and house-made sausage sided with roasted Indo-spiced corn on the cob, coleslaw and potato salad. Not only that, you get a free selected domestic brewski, too!

Needless to say, the Thursday-night meal deal’s first come, first served, and, no, the 50-seat room doesn’t take reservations. Surely, at these prices (there’s fancy $5 cocktails, as well) they’re giving the stuff away at cost.

“We’re just trying to get people in the door whether they have money or not,” says the ex-Susur sous of the offer that runs through the end of June. “If the response is good, I’m up for doing it all summer.”
