Hot to trot

After several months of delayed construction, the hotly anticipated Hoof Café – the spin-off of the Black Hoof (928 Dundas W, at Gore Vale, 416-551-8854), Hogtown’s charcuterie cause celebre – opened Saturday.

Located directly across the street from home base in the former Chelsea Room and Shag Club at #923, the 20-seat Café version opens at 10 am every day except Tuesdays and Wednesdays and stays open, like the original, till 2 am.

Those who previously couldn’t be bothered with the Hoof’s no reservation policy now have twice the opportunity to get a much cherished table.

There’s two menus, a brunch-ish card by day – suckling pig Eggs Benny ($13), pigs’ tails ‘n’ grits ($14) – and tapas-style nibbles – grilled beef heart ($4), caramelized milk and onion pierogis ($6) – by night.

And about the name. Café Hoof, surely![rssbreak]
