Khao San Road set for lift-off

Months in the planning, Khao San Road (326 Adelaide W, at Peter, 647-352-5773, khaosanroad.ca), Jeff and Nuit’s widely anticipated upscale follow-up to their charmingly low rent Sukhothai (274A Parliament, at Dundas, 416-913-8846, sukhothaifood.com), finally throws open its doors Friday February 4th at 5 pm.

The 50-seat Clubland trat will be open Mondays through Saturdays, with the first lunch starting Saturday at 11:30 am. Take-out and delivery, too. And though the prices are only marginally higher than they were at their former Regent Park digs, the new menu looks awfully familiar, among them Khao Soi noodles with beef ($10 lunch/$13 dinner) and chef Nuit’s signature Sam Ros-style chicken pad Thai ($12 lunch/$13 dinner). New dishes include starters like crispy deep fried squash (Gra Bong $6) and mains like spicy wokked bork with holy basil (Gra Prao Moo $10/$12).

“The area’s very accessible, so a lot of people can come and give us a try,” say the Regulars. “We want to try something different, a little more contemporary but still down-to-earth.”
